First, before I explain, please

Well, pixels are the little dots of light that make up a picture or a computer screen.  And a 100 square block of pixels (10x10) is this big: 

Doesn't seem like much space, right?  Especially for $100 like a lot of sites charge!  But when each little box is filled with a little graphic, even clustered together, visitors to the site are curious as to what's behind it. 

 

Makes you want to click on it, right?  Go ahead, take a sneak peek at the site before I tell you more about this idea.
 
This is crazy!  Who would think of such an idea?

  Pixel ads are an advertising solution created by Alex Tew of England.  Back in the late summer of 2005, he brainstormed ways to pay for college, and figured if he could shoot for a million bucks on one site, it would grab attention, and perhaps he'd reach 10-20% of his goal and be set.

Since companies are always looking for creative ways to advertise, Alex figured that he could sell little blocks of ad space on a website, keep them on the site for 5-10 years, and the novelty of the space would attract both large and small advertisers.

After a few weeks and some local press, he had been doing very well.  Then the Wall Street Journal ran the story (click to read this amazing time capsule!), and four months later, as the calendar pages turned to 2006, he auctioned off the last 10 little blocks on eBay.  Final price of 1000 pixels?  $38,100!

 

So what now?

  Once Alex's story hit the local papers, imitation sites started popping up all over the place.  Now there are over 1000 pixel sites, perhaps even more (see the Pixel Wars for a list of some of them).  Some are exactly the same, but sell pixels by the penny, nickel or quarter.  One pits ads against each other in a great adaptation called Company Battleships!  Another attempts to be the world record domain sale (The Best Pixel).

But no one had come up with a way to drive serious traffic to a Pixel page, make it into a business model, and adapt it to the wonderfully energetic industry of Network Marketing. 

That Wall Street Journal article found its way to Russ Medlin, an experienced entrepreneur in California.  After several rounds of brainstorming with some of his own group, he decided to launch an International Network Marketing Company to capitalize on the pixel ad craze, and to make a lot of people a whole lot of money.  Thus, PixMeUp.com was born the first week of December.

That's great, Bob, but how does that make me rich?

  The business plan looks complicated, but it's really simple. 

You buy an annual pixel ad (or several) on PixMeUp.com for just $25 a block.  This in itself is a great value!  The original blocks on Alex Tew's site were $100, as are many on hundreds of other sites. 

Your ad is a graphic of your choice (either uploaded or picked from the selection offered on the screen).  Then you simply type in the website you want the ad to click to, and you're all set. 

After choosing your ad's location, you use SafePay's payment system, and your ad is up within minutes (if you upload your own image, your ad is posted within 24 hours).  In the next few weeks, the site will have a direct merchant processing system, allowing you to buy your ad directly with a credit card.

Now comes the fun part.  Your ad (and every other 10x10 block that you purchase) gives you two Business Centers, one Gold and one Silver, each with the potential of turning your $25 into over $9500!  That's $19,000 for a fully completed Gold and Silver 3x8 matrix.

Sounds complicated, I know.  But it's a powerful business model, and the company has just begun!  See if this helps make it clearer.

Combine the figures to the right, and you can potentially get $9564.75.  Since you actually have two business centers for each ad (one gold and one silver), you can potentially earn $19,000 on your ads.
So how is this a network marketing deal?  It looks like a pyramid scheme.

  There are a lot of details about what is a pyramid scheme, but rest assured, this American company based in Oregon is following all the federal laws in this program.  In general, a network marketing business is not a pyramid scheme if it has a genuine product for sale, and each new person can make more money than the person who sponsored them.
  • PixMeUp.com sells valuable advertising space on a high traffic website, with outbound links to websites all around the world. 
  • Any person can earn the full matrix, plus they can earn commissions on their first and second levels of referrals.  So that means you can earn more money than your sponsor, or their sponsor, etc.
