Overview
South Korea,the republic of korea which was formally known as Tachan-min'guk covers half of the korean Peninsula on eastern Asia. The Korean peninsula is bounded by the Sea of Japan on the east, the Yellow Sea on the west, and the Korea strait on the south. The capital of South Korea is Seoul .Seoul is the largest city it is also the country's cultural,economic,educational center.Twentie -five percent of South Korea's population of about 10 million people,live in Seoul. Korea was a single nation befor World War 2.(1939-1945)

History
People lived in the Southwestern part of the korean Peninsula about 30,000 years ago.China conqured parts of this territory and strongly influenced Korea arts,sciences,and government.The Chinese then introduced Buddhism to Korea.Before and during the A.D.100's, the Kingdom of Koguryo emerged gradually in the northeatern  part of korea.The word Korea originated from the word Koryo.In the year 1388, a general by the name of Yi songgye took control of Koryo an in 1392 he became king and renamed the country.

They have reached the world's greatest football
tournament in the past two decades. Following their debut in the 1954
FIFA World Cup Switzerland™, this will be their fifth straight
appearance, solidifying their top-dog status in Asia.
