Italy
is a very diverse country. It includes large cities and vast farmland.
History
Italy
has had an extensive amount of history over the years. In 476 Odoacer defeated
the last emperor of Ancient Rome, Romulus Augustulus. In 800 pope Leo III
crowned Charlimange emperor of the Romans. In 962 Otto The Great was crowned
emperor which began the start of The Roman Emperor. In 1300 the renaissance
began in Italy. Through 1521 to 1559 the forces of spain and the Holy Roman
Emperor defeated France for control of Italy. In 1796 Napoleon Bonaparte
seized Italy for France. From 1814 to 1815 congress of Veienna returned
Italy after Napoleon was defeated. In 1861 the kingdom of Italy was formed.
In 1870 Rome became part of Italy. Italy fought on the allied side
of WWI from 1915 to 1918. In 1936 Italy conquered Ethiopia. Italy entered
WWII on Germanys side in 1940. They surrendered to the allies in 1943.
Italy is now an important and now irreplaceable country involved
in the international community.
