Overview
Costa Rica is different
from the rest of Central America and from the rest of Latin America, because
its people share the wealth, land, and central power for more equitably.
Its social welfare system and parliamentary democracy don't have anything.
This is not a new development, instead its a result of an enduring
consolidation and depending social patterns that arrange from the earliest
colonial days. Costa Rica was the most neglected country of Central America,
mostly because it was the farthest from the colonial governors, at least
that's what Guatemala said.
History
The greatest of the modernizes was President Thomas Guardia Gutierres.
He approached american engineers in 1871 to offer the building of a railroad
from the settled central plateau over some rugged ground. He first recruited
Chinese and Italian workers and when they died by the thousands of malaria
and yellow fever and walked out on strike. Als, the national labor movement
built a muscle on the United Fruit company during a series of strikes that
began on 1913 and continued through the 30s.
