Summary:
The major company China Telecommunications Corp. was split into northern
and southern companies. They split on May 17,2002. This also paves the
way for greater competion. Also, China Netcom corp. was handed 10 northern
provinces. This new enterprise which just recently merged with Jitong Network
Communications. China Telecom operates 21 provinces in the south and west;
a share of this stock is about $8 billion dollars. The China Telecom
is now ranked the 2nd in the telecom operator in the country, the market
share dropped from 50.5% to 32.6%. Also, china mobile own 36.6% of the
market, China Telecom assets are worth 400 billion yuan (us $48 billion).
Analysts say that it might take months for the company to recover from
the split. Also, China telecom might take over the Hong Kong telecom systems.
Opinion:
I think that in many ways the split of China Telecom was good and bad.
It was good because it gives a chance for other companies to grow and expand
over some parts of china. I believe that the split was bad because it hurts
the financial part of the company. For example, their stock went
down as well as their rank in the country’s best Telecom Company. This
is why I think the split for China Telecom was good and bad.

well because they seem to have a pretty good team this year but i don't
think they will beat Brazil when they play them on june 8th. I think that
they proboly will beat Costa Rica June 4th, they might beat Turkey but
they proboly will.
