Vladimir I. Lenin: (1917-1922) basically created Communism In the Soviet Union. When he was young, he stopped believing in god after his brother and father died, and he started studying the writings of marx.
Josef Stalin: (1922-1953) Was considered one of the most terrible leaders of his time. Millions suffered because of his actions
Nikita Kruschev: (1953-1964) Was in power when Nixon was president in the U.S. He was known for once slamming his shoe on a table at a U.N. conference to get attention
Lenoid Brezhner: (1964-1982) On October 24, 1931, he was made a full member of the Communist party. In 1932 he was made a party organizer at Mettaliergica Institute. On October 14 1964, he was elected first secretary and chairman of defense.
Yuri Andropov: (1982-1984) November 12, 1982 since Brezhner died he took power. he beat Chernenko in the election because he was more experienced and the people respected him even though they disliked him.
Konstantih Chernenko: (1984-1985) He didn't have a lot of experience in politics. When Andropov died he was elected General Secretary. He died MArch 10 1985.
Mikhail Gorbachev: (1985-1991) In 1985 he served as a secretary of the central committee. He became general Secretary of the Communist party. He served as president of the U.S.S.R from 1990 to 1991
LEADERS AFTER COMMUNISM
Boris Yeltsin: (1991-1999) On June 13 1991, he received more then 57% of the votes to become President. The Congress People's Deputy of Russia attempted to impeach him march 12 1993.
Vladimir Putin: (1999- Present) "The apperance of Putin and the political scene in Russia, inspired anxiety rather then hope for the future of the country. He had more experience in security in politics.
