What did native Cubans think of their national government?

Back in the early 60's, Cuban leader, Fidel Castro turned the
country into a communist state. He put the country of Cuba under its own
government. Mainly, Cubans middle class residents opposed Castro's
revolution. Many people were thrown into prison or were permanently silenced
because they spoke out of their place. There was no other option for them,
except to escape from Cuba. Most headed for America; where
there was a chance to start over.
