What was the Cuban military like?
The Cuban Military and Armed Forces was the biggest in all of Latin America. They were also the best equipped in all of Latin America. Both men and women served in the Cuban Military. Cuban men must serve at least two years of service and active duty, after they read the age of sixteen. About 130,000 men and women serve in the regular armed forces, and about 135,000 men and women are in the regular services. These services include volunteer farm work; such as harvesting sugar cane and clearing the farm land that is not in use.
